Lone Working Policy Template

This policy is designed to illustrate my awareness of the risk associated with lone working and the measures I have put in place to protect myself and my clients.
Lone working is not inherently unsafe. Taking precaution can reduce the risks associated with working alone.
I have identified the risks associated with lone working; the responsibilities each person has in this situation and described procedures which will minimise such risks below:

Risks and Responsibilities

1. Accidents or sudden illnesses

I will ensure that the premises provide a First Aid kit.
I will familiarise myself and my client with local services as a point of emergency contact.
I will have a fully charged mobile phone available to contact emergency services.

2. Fire

I will ensure that I have access to a fire extinguisher.
I will familiarise myself and my clients with the fire exits.
I will have a fully charged mobile phone available to contact emergency services.

3. Violence or the threat of violence

I will familiarise myself with exits and position my seating to their closest proximity
I will familiarise myself with the wall mounted panic alarms and know how to use them.
I will inform a person of trust that I will be lone working and the location.
I will notify the person of trust of the start and end time and when I am no longer lone working.

4. Building issues

I will ensure I have the contact number of the building manager.

I accept responsibility to take reasonable care of myself and my client in lone working situations
